“Well what it was about Malcolm X is that at that point I was looking for answers So I had to find a reason to live In a way I was looking for a hero but they have their own issues and the things they’re dealing with but as black men we have our own things that we don’t and only another black man to help me with that you know And so Malcolm X became for me like a rubric for manhood and more importantly a rubric for black manhood you know i saw him i saw a man that wasn’t afraid to shoot the power of a man who stood up a man without discipline to focus he had everything that I didn’t see none of the men around me had And that’s what made me more discipline that’s what made me more focused That’s what made me not get into the streets even though everything was around me and it was tempting money And you see the fast money you see the women all that” – ENDS The Family
